LDS Tour 12. Tulum Ruins and Scuba Diving
Visit Tulum, an archaeological site that blends the historical and cultural Mayan legacy. Due to its amazing architecture and location on a cliff facing the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, Tulum is the third most visited pre-Hispanic site in Mexico.
For certified divers:Akumal in Riviera Maya takes place on the world’s second largest barrier reef. You will find abundant coral and marine life along three different major spur and groove formations. The deep reef starts at a depth of approximately 60 to 70 feet and extends out in finger like ridges, and drops to between 100 and 140 feet of beautiful canyons. A second reef ranges from 50 to 70 feet in depth, making this a perfect choice for your second dive of the day. The shallow portion of the reef runs between 25 to 45 feet in depth with large Elkhorn formations. We have 3 dives every day: 9:00 am (90 feet), 11:00 (60 feet), 2:30 pm (40 feet) – all trips are one tank dives.
If you are not certified diver, become certified. The Resort Course is the fastest, easiest and safest way for the beginning diver to discover the underwater world of diving. Our program takes only three hours and includes full equipment and pool sessions where you can gain confidence using PADI skills, which you will enjoy with a beautiful dive on our reef at a maximum depth of 35 feet.
The resort course is a great way to experience scuba diving, and we will credit the instruction toward the PADI certification if you decide to become a certified diver. This designation will allow you to dive under supervision for 15 days in our diving center.
Fishing excursions: Let our experienced captains lead you to the Riviera Maya’s best fishing waters. This area is considered one of the premier fishing locations to catch mahi-mahi, salt fish, marlin, bonito, wahoo and barracuda – just to name a few.
